BADGERS QB, QUINN MECHAM, NAMED NJCAA NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK. KICKER JOE PHILLIPS RECEIVES HONORS AS WELL

EPHRAIM - Snow College quarterback and Timpview High School graduate Quinn Mecham was honored today as the National Junior College Athletic Association Player of the Week.Mecham and Lone Peak graduate Joe Phillips, the team’s kicker, received Western States Football League conference player of the week honors as well.
No. 2 ranked Snow College beat New Mexico Military Institute Saturday 58-12.
Mecham threw for 434 yards and seven touchdowns-a new Snow College record. The Timpview High School graduate, who was slated as second-string at the beginning of the season, completed 78 percent of his passes and completed passes to nine different receivers.
Offensive coordinator Tyler Hughes said that Mecham “had an outstanding performance in every way.”
Phillips hit a field goal and was 7 for 8 on extra points attempts in the game
The Badgers remain undefeated and Saturday’s victory ratcheted them up to no. 1 in the Western States Football League and kept them steady in the No. 2 spot nationally.
The Badgers play Pima Community College this Saturday in Ephraim at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on KMTI 650 AM and online at www.snowbadgers.com and www.kmtiradio.com
Snow College, founded in 1888, serves
approximately 3,000 students at its Ephraim campus. The college provides
general education and applied technology programs leading to Associate
of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science and Associate
of Pre-Engineering degrees, and certificates of completion in a number
of occupational areas. Once
owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Snow College
became a state college in 1932.
